Oreganic’s 100% grass-feed beef comes from our family’s Oregon ranch. Have questions? We’ve got answers.
What is Oreganic Beef Company?
Oreganic Beef is the brand name of the 100% organic Oregon-grown meat products from Rocker 3 Ranch, and the private company we formed to market and distribute those products directly to consumers. If the brand on the package is Oreganic Beef, the brand on the cow was Rocker 3.
What makes Rocker 3 Ranch beef organic?
Both Rocker 3 Ranch and the cattle that graze there meet the US Department of Agriculture’s rigid requirements. The ICS and other independent verification agencies regularly conduct third party audits and certification. Our commitment to keeping our products free of pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, and genetically modified feed is deeply ingrained in our company culture.
What is 100% grass-fed & finished beef?
Most cattle eat grass at first but are then “finished” in crowded feedlots with a grain mix generally made of corn and soy. Our beef starts and finishes in an open pasture eating certified organic grasses and dried forage. The grass, like the cattle, is 100% Oregon-grown.
What are the health benefits of eating 100% grass-fed beef?
Cattle that are 100% grass-fed and finished contain fewer calories and less total fat than traditionally grain-finished beef. This beef also has two to three times the Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), which is considered a strong nutritional defense against cancer and is believed to decrease heart disease risk. What’s more, 100% grass-fed beef has up to six times the essential fatty acids (Omega-3/Omega-6) that our bodies don’t produce on their own, and that we must obtain from a balanced diet.
What is GAP4 Certification?
Among other third-party verifications, Oregon-grown Rocker 3 Ranch also holds a Global Animal Partnership Step 4 Certification. This means that, from birth to harvesting, our animals receive humane and respectful treatment under the most natural conditions possible.
Why does Oreganic Beef Co. dry-age their beef?
We dry-age all prime cuts a minimum of 30 days before cutting and wrapping, and ground beef a minimum of 14 days. This process gives the enzymes in the meat plenty of time to break down the muscle tissue, resulting in a better texture and richer flavor.
How does Oreganic Beef Company manage animal health?
Because we raise our cattle organically and without hormones or pesticides, we rely on preventative care such as providing a safe, spacious, stress-free living environment. If an animal is injured or ill, we use holistic and natural remedies. We have a policy to not let any animal suffer. If it fails holistic treatments, we remove it from our organic program and treat it with antibiotics. Such an animal would then never be considered organic so we would simply sell it on the commercial market.
What’s meant by “traceability”?
We think it’s important that you buy beef you can trust so we keep detailed logs with the date your beef was born and harvested, and anything noteworthy that may have happened throughout its life (even point out its mother). We also love it when our customers visit Rocker 3 Ranch (by appointment) to see how we raise our animals and ask any questions they may have.
How is Oreganic Beef packaged and shipped?
Each order is securely vacuum-packed and individually quick frozen to seal in freshness. Then it’s shipped to your door. We guarantee delivery within 72 hours of your shipment date. Live-rate shipping nationwide. Orders must be placed before 8:00 AM Tuesday to be included in the weekly shipment (every Tuesday).
Where is Oreganic Beef processed?
Oreganic Beef Co. has partnered with Mark’s Meat Co., located in Canby, OR. In order for a meat product to be sold as USDA organic, both the butcher shop and the ranch where the animal was raised must be USDA certified organic. Mark’s Meat is one of seven butcher shops in Oregon that are certified organic and inspected by the USDA. The shop is also Animal Welfare Approved and GAP certified. Mark’s Meat implements a robust systematic approach to the humane handling of livestock and we’re proud to have our beef processed at their facilities.
Does Oreganic Beef accept custom orders?
Absolutely! We know that sometimes you need something special to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or even weddings. Depending on the size of your order and the cut or cuts you need, we typically need two weeks notice to get custom orders out the door. Contact us to get your custom order started.
